What is CEREC and the Benefits of This Type of Reconstructive Dentistry?

Chair-side economical restoration of esthetic ceramics, also known as CEREC, is a form of reconstructive dentistry. This technology used by Hi Tech Dental Care uses a machine to create high-quality, ceramic dental restorations through the helps 3D computer technology. By using this technology, one of our same day dentist is able to provide our patients with beautiful, more natural looking results in the same day.

How Does CEREC Work?

The first step of the treatment begins with your Hi Tech Dental Care dentist in Las Vegas examining your teeth to determine which form of restoration is the best suited for your needs. Our same day dentist will take a 3D photo of your teeth and jaw line, followed by preparing the tooth for replacement. This image is transferred to the computer in our office. The computer allows you to receive a restoration that is custom designed specifically for you. This type of hi-tech dental care is typically used for patients who have a broken or chipped tooth or anytime a restorative crown is needed.

What Are The Advantages?

One of the best advantages of CEREC treatments is that it can typically be done in one visit by a same day dentist, whereas traditional dental restoration typically requires several visits. The procedure also does not weaken the root of the tooth or the surrounding tissues. Previously, most restorations were done with the use of amalgam, gold or other metals; but this type of restorations are done using a ceramic material, which is healthier for your teeth, gums and mouth.

This technique is highly durable as well as aesthetically pleasing. The ceramic used is colored to match surrounding teeth, so the restored tooth blends extremely well with your natural teeth. Unlike silver or other metal fillings, your Hi Tech Dental Care dentist in Las Vegas may also glaze or polish the finished tooth, which makes it impossible for anyone to notice any difference when you smile, eat or talk using CEREC. The ceramic used for the restoration procedure is similar to the composition of natural tooth enamel, so it will last for years to come. The ceramic material is designed to contract and expand in alignment with your natural teeth when you are eating or drinking cold or hot foods and beverages.
